Entrepreneur Wesley van Rietschoten started the company Rietcon in Spijkenisse four years ago. He recently invested in a new SafanDarley Press brake and Guillotine. Production is growing and the factory space is already becoming too small. “We are looking for bigger premises,” says the entrepreneur.
At 37 years old, Van Rietschoten is quite a young entrepreneur. But he has already made his mark during his 15 years in the sheet metal sector. “I come from a family with several entrepreneurs. My father had a metal construction company that I started working in from an early age. During my studies I learned the tricks of the trade from him. When I finished the training I started working for my father. I learned to work with the shearing machine, press brake and other machines. Also making quotations, maintaining contacts and work preparation were among my tasks. After a few years I started working for a facade construction company and learned specialised bending of different metals; just like my father on SafanDarley machines.”
Four years ago, Van Rietschoten decided to start his own company: Rietcon. For production during the first year, stainless steel sheet metal was cut on a small machine in an old barn in Strijen. After that year, he bought a twenty year old press brake in Belgium. “It worked fine, but was not perfect and prone to break down. For the business market you need a machine where accuracy is the standard and you can change quickly. When the press brake failed too often, we called SafanDarley. We were able to invest because we had some good years,” says Van Rietschoten.
The entrepreneur soon saw that his clients wanted customisation in, for example, metal worktops and profiles. “Also for planters, drip trays, lids and other products. That is why I started a website where private and business clients can choose the material themselves and enter the dimensions, the price is immediately calculated via an interactive order page. We make everything to measure and take care of the shipment and even mounting or coating is possible. There are already three of us and we are looking for additional personnel.”
The brand awareness of Rietcon is growing, Van Rietschoten notices. “We already have a very wide range in the webshop in various metal types and thicknesses. We can now deliver up to 3 meters in length, but in the future we want to go to 4 metres or even 6 metres in order to be able to provide even more clients with customisation. Then we hope to be able to do business with SafanDarley again. We now work with steel, corten steel, stainless steel, brass, copper and (pre-coated) aluminum. In the future we may be able to process titanium, bronze and other special materials. We can have everything delivered to your door in any size.”
The choice of machines was not difficult, says Van Rietschoten. “SafanDarley is an honest company: a solid brand with good service where accuracy and reliability are the standard. That is very important to us. If something goes wrong, it is often resolved within 24 hours. I am now looking for my own building to process more materials and larger projects. Then we can work even more professionally and handle larger contracts.” The SafanDarley machines have been there for six weeks now. “It is a pleasure to work with them. Our orders are processed very quickly and smoothly, the accuracy is perfect and we also save a lot of time setting up the programs because the software is very user-friendly. That is very convenient for us because of the many products, materials and thicknesses that we process.”
Back to the overviewOur distributor Capital Machine Technologies, Inc. introduced the SafanDarley E-Brake at NASA when they started to search for an electric press brake. When the search began for a new press brake, one of the co-workers suggested an electric brake, something he had seen at a tradeshow.
The renovation of our Central warehouse at our Lochem facility has been completed and it was brought back into use last week. It is now equipped with a range of automated systems which will enable us to raise our quality and service to an even higher level.
