Robotics Application Engineer 

The Robotics Application Engineer will support our distributors and the end users of our products through the exploration, selection and application stages. They will review the customers applications, perform parts analysis, present solutions, lead demos and Q & A’s. Job responsibilities include understanding our client’s business requirements and determining if we have a suitable automated solution to meet their goals. In addition, the Robotics Engineer is responsible for assisting in the creation of cost proposals, efficiency studies and selection and possibly development of grippers for the applications. The Robotics Application Engineer will also write market specifications to the engineering team based on new feature requests from distributors. 

Primary tasks and responsibilties: 

  • Performing parts analysis for customers and analyzing their suitability to a robotics application. 
  • Conducting live demos and making presentations on the technology. 
  • Responsible for implementing new technology, processes and applications specified by R&D, testing them and documenting the outcomes. 
  • Research and suggest new technical procedures, processes and applications, working with Field Service Engineers and the R&D team. 
  • Provide system information and training on the various robotic aspects and usability to Field Service Engineers and clients, while developing a strong working relationship and positive rapport. 
  • Document any new robotic application developments, maintenance adjustments or technical changes and prepare and distribute operational reports to management and the R&D team. 
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Automated Solutions that we install. 
  • Help raise awareness with our distributor and customer base on the value SafanDarley’s automated solutions provides through social media involvement, trade show participation, blogs, etc.. 
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technical advancements, applying new, innovative knowledge to the position. 
  • Contributing to the developmental needs of others on our automated solutions. Coach, mentor and help others to improve their knowledge and skills. 
  • Maintain internal reporting records, complete and submit expense reports. 
  • Actively engage in the facility’s safety program to assist with achieving the safety goals. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering specializing in mechanical, electrical or industrial. Training in hydraulics and pneumatics a plus. Experience with robotics required. (Equivalent experience will be strongly considered).
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Program software, set-up functions, enter data and process information. 
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics and communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner. 
  • Requires an individual with strong analytical problem solving skills. 
  • Able to interface with both internal team members and external customers assessing client needs to multifaceted problems and suggest a solution based direction. 
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools and electronic test/calibration equipment. 
  • Must be self-motivated, possess solid communication skills and the ability to work independently. 
  • Occasional travel within USA, Canada, and Mexico will be required (approximately 30%) including initial training at SafanDarley HQ in the Netherlands. 
  • Experience and/or knowledge of plate benders a plus. 
  • Foreign language capability in Spanish, French and/or Dutch is a plus. 


Physical Demands / Work Environment 

  • Constant use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping and handling of materials. 
  • Frequent walking, climbing and balancing. 
  • Constant close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
