Predictable bending

Less waste through predictable bending

Less waste through predictable bending

Less waste through predictable bending and shorter production cycle times! This can be achieved by properly coordinating a variety of factors and by using the correct combination of options on the press brake. How can angular accuracy in the production process contribute to more efficient production and shorter cycle times?

Control the bending angle

Various factors can cause angular deviations and these must be addressed within the production process;

  • Different material batches
  • Different rolling directions
  • Sheet thickness deviation
  • Small production batches in numerous different material
  • Quality of press tools
  • Machine set up
  • Tool selection

Externalfactors for a predictable angle

Multiple external factors affect bending accuracy and contribute to a predictable bend angle. Here you can further optimise the process and achieve shorter production cycle times.

  • Make sure your press brake is correctly adjusted.
  • Ensure good quality/condition of the tools
  • Ensure consistent material quality
  • Use of E-Bend S sheet thickness measurement, with which you measure the thickness of the material in advance
  • Use of E-Bend L angle measuring system, which allows you to check the angle during the bending process

Fast, simple and reliable sheet thickness or angle measurement can be essential in your bending process. These two SafanDarley E-Bend systems, electronically linked to the E-Control Touch Screen control system, increase efficiency through precise sheet thickness or angle measurement.

Faster bending process, shorter production time

The patented E-Bend L Blue angle measurement system uses two sensors with blue laser beams. These offer a significant advantage over the usual red beam because red laser light has an almost identical wavelength to natural light and measurements can often be subject to interference. The blue light is easier to distinguish from natural light, so that the system has almost no problems with reflective materials such as aluminum, stainless steel and galvanized materials.

With a full springback measurement, the E-Bend L Blue angle measuring system measures the bend angle including springback during the bending process. This data can then be stored in a database. Using angle measurement with data from the springback database, the bending process can be faster, without loss of production time, because the springback angle is already known. In 3-point measurement, any deflection or misalignment of the press beam (Y1 and Y2) is measured and corrected if necessary.

Sheet thickness measurement

The SafanDarley E-Bend S sheet thickness measuring system measures the sheet thickness before a product is bent. During the measurement process, the actual sheet thickness value is forwarded to the machine control, whereby the bending data including material clamping point is automatically adjusted. The system measures the sheet thickness to within 0.01mm.
